its funny how God works. i just received an instant message from someone who i haven't seen since highschool; let alone that i haven't talked to him much at all during highschool. responding to his message, he denies ever sending me a message. it must have been a bug in the system or something supernatural. so we have a little chat about how we've been doing. i then suspect that this conversation didnt start by accident. so i ask him if anything was going on in his life that he wanted to talk about. it turns out that he does have a lot of things going on and isn't as strong a christian as he used to be. (we never suspected each other to be christian back in Highschool). so i gave him the link to discoveries 08 and said i would pray for him.
so this is a prayer request that you help me pray for Cris, that he find his way again. that he learn to trust and love his fellow christian.
Thanks guys.
I met a man named Robin on the train today and he shared quite an interesting testimony. He was a Christian but never really took it seriously. He was into a lot of drugs and one time he overdosed on heroine. all drugged up, he crawled to his church, trying to get inside but the door was closed. at this moment he called out to God and prayed a pleading prayer. and at that moment he felt the drugs loosing their effect and became sober.
Later on he passed by someone who offered him a bible. he opened it in hope that God would show him something. he opened the bible to a random page and pointed his finger down onto a passage. it was 1 Peter 3:10-12:
For "He who would love life and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips from speaking deceit. let him turn away from evil and do good; let him seek peace and pursue it. for the eyes for the Lord are on the righteous, and His ears are open to their prayers; but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil."
in reading this, he threw the bible to the ground and continued on his way. but then he ran into another man who again offered him a bible.
it was these moments that he knew that God was there trying to lead him to the path of righteousness. it was Robin's testimony that has made me realize that God reaches people through many events and many servants of God. it gives me hope that even though my efforts alone don't change someones life, at least my efforts and start to lead them towards the right direction. i can only pray and trust that God will send more of his servants in the path of the lost that they may eventually find their way little by little, bit by bit.
Robin does not yet believe in the divinity and importance of Jesus Christ, so i ask that we pray for him so that he may find the way, the truth and the light.
I've been talking to a friend about something pretty serious. Weiran has gotten news that her highschool friend has gotten pregnant by her boyfriend. they arn't Christian but Weiran's friend wants to keep the baby as an act against her boyfriend. Weiran and the girl's mom are pushing her to get an abortion. weiran argues that she isnt keeping the baby for the right reason and it would be more justified to keep the baby for values such as valuing life. the boyfriend's parents who are catholic are offering to help support the baby if she does choose to keep it.
please pray for Weiran's friend. i hope that she makes the right decision.
